Emily Irene VanCamp initially aspired to become a professional actress However, she was enticed after visiting Katie on the Ladies Room film set. Alongside studying acting she was also offered an appearance on a show that aired in Canada. The shows she had starred in among others included Are You Afraid of the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp made a success in his career when getting a role on Glory Days, the WB Mystery Horror show. While the show was praised by critiques, it's poor ratings led to it being removed after only nine episodes. Actually, she was quick in landing a second role as Amy Abbott on Everwood. It was for this role that she won nominations from the Young Artist Award, and also Four Teen Choice Awards.
